Young Scientists around the World met at the I-SWEEEP 2008

Over 800 participants from more than 50 countries and 38 states participated in the I-SWEEEP 2008 in Houston, Texas which was organized by the Cosmos Foundation. Students displayed their projects in three main categories; Energy, Engineering, and Environment to win scholarship opportunities and prizes.


Projects were judged by Academicians and Industry Professionals

I-SWEEEP 2008 was held at George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas between May 1 and 5, 2008. Students from more that 50 countries and 38 states displayed their research projects to win monetary prizes and university scholarships. Projects were judged by nearly 200 judges from various backgrounds (mainly university professors, academicians, and industry professionals). Projects were evaluated based on their scientific thought, originality, understanding of the subject matter and presentation.

CONGRATULATIONS; Ding Zhou, National MATHCOUNTS Champion


The Texas MATHCOUNTS team won first place in the National MATHCOUNTS Competition held in Denver, CO. Ding Zhou, 8th grade student at Harmony School of Excellence, is a member of this winning team. Ding and 3 other students from Texas participated in this team competition.

These students qualified for this event at the State Competition held in March in Austin, TX. As the National Champions, they will travel to Washington D.C for a special event at the White House. As part of a winning team, Ding will receive a $2,000 scholarship, trips to U.S. Space Camp and a notebook computer. Congratulations to Ding Zhou and teammates for this wonderful achievement.


CONGRATULATIONS- Students, Teachers, and Staff members

Harmony Science Academy was praised in a news article released November 30, 2007 by U.S. News and World Report. The list names 1,600 of the nation’s 18,000 high schools. The article recognized specific schools based on factors such as: 1) Standardized Test Scores, 2) Performance of Disadvantaged Students, and 3) Number of seniors taking and passing college level Advanced Placement Exams. Harmony Science Academy was honored to be among the best high schools and received a bronze medal.


Opening Ceremony and 1st Annual Science Fair at HSA-Beaumont

HSA-Beaumont Campus held official opening ceremony and its 1st Annual Science Fair. Approximately 400 people attended the ceremony and the school-wide science fair. Pate, Jr., Councilmember Gethrel ‘Get’ Williams-Wright, and president of Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Jim Rich attended the official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony along with distinguished parents, students, and administrators.

Prior to the opening ceremony, all students from 4th through 8th graders presented their projects to the school-wide science fair. All projects were carefully evaluated and judged by university professors. Top projects in various categories (i.e., Engineering, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences) were received awards and trophies by our distinguished guests.


COSMOS FOUNDATION "Leading Public School Education in Texas"

The educators and leaders behind the Cosmos Foundation and Harmony schools are passionate about transforming how students engage in math and science. With this vision in mind, The Cosmos Foundation launched Harmony Science Academy in Houston in 2000, with 200 students. The Harmony School system has grown to fourteen schools and over five thousand students, and built a distinct, high-quality brand since 2000.
